The TMJ, short for temporomandibular joint, is the joint that joins the mandible (the lower jaw) to the bone of the skull. We have two TMJs located in front of the ears on either side of our face.
What is a TMJ disorder?
A TMJ disorder can cause a displacement of the muscles and nerves of your jaw and cause dysfunction in the temporomandibular joint. This problem is typically characterized by these main symptoms:
